Description
GET READY TO KNIT AND CHILL! LEARN TO CRAFT YOUR OWN DROP-BACK SWEATERHOODIE – COMPLETE WITH PATTERN FOR A UNISEX HOODIE!
Despite there being many techniques to knit sweaters with constructions in the round, not allseamless garments fit well on everyone. Knitting in pieces is becoming more fashionable again aftermany years of seamless construction, which is a good sign and probably an answer to the request for newer and nicer shapes that otherwise could not be achieved.
The drop-back shoulder construction is probably the easiest to knit. It entails minimal shaping,and seaming the pieces together is much easier than seaming those of a set-in sleeve. Also,mathematically, this construction does not pose particular difficulties and can be easily tackled once a few basic concepts are understood. Moreover, it is a shape that is becoming very fashionable in the fashion industry nowadays and is expected to be well accepted for the 2025 Autumn/Winter season.
In this class, I will explain, supported by an extensive handout, the following topics:
- How the front and back are constructed
- How the sleeve and sleeve cap are constructed;
- How to assemble the sweater (with many diagrams in the handout)
For this class, I will use the design of the Sunday Sweater, my new design It is an oversized hoodie that incorporates all the techniques I will explain in this class; I will offer the pattern together with the handout during class. I will also explain three principal and basic proportions that this construction needs to respect in order to work out well, so that eventually, the students will be able to modify the sweater to their preference.
Given how easy this construction is compared to others, it would be a pity not to give it a try.
