malabrigo

malabrigo

Hand-dyed yarns

Malabrigo was founded in Montevideo, Uruguay, when a few family members began experimenting with a dye pot in their kitchen and discovered their passion for colours and textures. What started out of curiosity grew into a globally known hand-dyed yarn company, celebrated for its rich shades and exceptional softness.

Today, Malabrigo is still a family business with around 70 employees in Uruguay, Peru and the USA. Each skein is still hand-dyed, combining artisanal methods with years of experience in colour development and fibre expertise. With more than 20 yarn bases and over 400 colourways inspired by nature, art and everyday life, our goal is simple: to create yarns that spark the imagination and make the process of knitting and crocheting as inspiring as the finished piece itself.

Meisterstücke

Meisterstücke

My MASTERPIECES are meant to be fun – or simply make you happy!

When I dye yarns and gather punchy ideas for new creations, I can never predict exactly what will actually come out of this play with colour in the end. This joy in the unexpected, this excitement, is what makes dyeing yarns so appealing.

It’s important to me that my creations are wearable for everyone and highlight personality. Colourful, bold, extravagant, stylish and sustainable: these qualities define my hand-dyed yarns. I want to show that tradition and innovation, knitting and chic, are no longer opposites.

With us, you’ll find only mulesing-free wool yarns from sustainable farming that strictly respects animal welfare. Every skein, every ball in our range is personally hand-dyed in our workshop; all yarns are one-of-a-kind and stand out for top quality and their individual character.

Yours, Christiane Meister
